Foundation Year
DESCRIPTION
Foundation Year program as year 1 of Bachelor’s Degree (This training program has been sharpened its qualification of curriculum, staffs, teaching and studying) is a background-knowledge-based program for students who wish to pursue their major skills in the following years of Bachelor’s Degree Program. Foundation Year Program for each faculty consists of basic subjects of the four core sectors (1. Arts, Humanities and Languages, 2.Social Science, 3. Languages and 4. Mathematics, Computer and Science) and Oriented Subjects for each faculty.
BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE
In order to acquire fulfill potential knowledge of the foundation year program within faculty, students are required to have some background knowledge the same as requirements for students who undertake Bachelor’s Degree such as English, Mathematics, Civics Study and Computer Administration.
VISSION, MISSIONS, DIRECTIONS AND OBJECTIVES of Foundation Year Program
The management team of Human Resource University has determined the implementation of visions, missions, goals and objectives of Foundation Year as mentioned in the strategic plan as following:
VISION
An higher education institution acknowledged nationally and internationally on its excellence of management, research, teaching, studying and social services beneficial to the Cambodian society and its citizens.
MISSIONS
- Providing theoretical and practical-based training with effectiveness so that graduated students in this program will gain background knowledge beneficial to them in research study level such as Bachelor’s Degree
- Improving the ability and quality of teaching
- Strengthening governance and leadership to improve effectiveness and excellence in training
- Improving nationalism and Cambodian cultural value
- Widening collaboration with educational national and international partners in the region and around the globe.
GOALS
To reach success in response to the above vision, Human Resource University has determined many prioritized goals such as strengthening governing structure of foundation year department, curriculum development, rigorous selection of lecturers, development of physical facilities, strengthening of governance, and student enrollment plan. These provide students of the Foundation Year Program the background knowledge, broad understanding, and ability to continuously study their selected major successfully as well as responding to the improvement of social economics and the change of science technology.
OBJECTIVES
Creating suitable environment responding to the required training program to ensure effectiveness together with qualification and to succeed in the above objectives through the following strategic plan implementation:
- To reach physical facilities development plan
- To reach human resource development plan (professors and staffs) working for Foundation Year Program
- To reach curriculum development plan responding to the required context and social economics improvement and job market
- To earn support from Foundation Year students
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completing Foundation Year Program, students will obtain enough competency, background knowledge to pursue their major skills in the following academic year of Bachelor’s Degree Program.
CURRICULUM, TRAINING PERIOD and STUDY HOURS/CREDITS
Curriculum of Foundation Year covering 30 credits is a one-year general education program which includes the four core sectors (Arts, Humanities and Languages, Social Science, Languages and Mathematics and Computer Science), oriented subjects for each faculty.
