Management

Course Description

Management consists of a variety of subjects including General Management, Human Resource Management, International Business Management, Project Management and others. All these subjects have primary focus on management in public sector, private sector, and non-government organizations. Learners taking this course are equipped with skills as effective assistants to management of various organizations.

Background Knowledge

To perform well in this Associate’s Degree in Management, learners are required to have basic knowledge of English, Algebra and Civics. 

Program Objectives

This Associate’s Degree in Management is organized with the following objectives:

  • To equip learners with management skills to serve in public sector, private sector, and non-government organizations with main focus on specialized areas such General Management, Human Resource Management and Personnel, Project Management, International Business Management in order to meet the demands of job market;
  • To contribute to the development of human resources with the Royal Government of Cambodia in order to alleviate the poverty of the people through employments and students’ personal businesses;
  • To equip learners with knowledge of management and enable them to work effectively and with high professional ethics in private sector, public sector, and nongovernmental organizations;
    Train learners to be highly-responsible and well-prepared to compete in the job market;
    Provide simplicity to the students through the development of a curriculum with stakeholder consultations –employer representatives, professors, and program development committee;
    To prepare learners for Bachelor’s Degree, and post-graduate studies. 

Expected Learning Outcomes

After completing the Associate’s Degree in Management, learners will gain knowledge, analytical skills (analytical knowledge), interpersonal skills and responsibilities, numerical skills, information technology and communication as follow:

  • Understand theories, tools, methods, and technical vocabulary related to management;
    Understand the fundamentals of administration and protocols in public institutions, private institutions, and non-governmental organizations;
    Understand the work of preparing documents and other official letters;
    Be aware of the process of production, operation, process of managing the system of work and organizational structure (roles, duties, responsibilities, and authorities);
    Gain knowledge of management functions (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling), management skills (technical skills, human skills and decision-making skills), roles of management (interpersonal roles, information management roles, decision-making roles);
    Be familiar with the system of records of office work and document management;
    Understand the functions of Human Resource Management (HR planning, announcement, recruitment, training and human resource development, performance evaluation, compensation and other benefits, safety and health, relationships between employers and employees);
  • Perform administrative functions and protocols in public, private, and nongovernmental organizations through the use of thinking and analysis in the preparation of administrative letters and protocols;
  • Able to manage organizations, prepare organizational structures, perform the functions of management, and use thinking and analysis in order to design the work system of the organization based on the management opportunities;
  • Change the way of thinking, mindset and reflects the difference between positive and negative thoughts and benefits for success;
  • Use conceptual and analytical skills on the system of records, tasks, dates and file archives;
    Use interpersonal skills in leading, directing, and problem solving;
  • Initiate new ideas, hold idea-exchanged meeting, debate, and be flexible in dealing with challenges and decision making;
  • Able to perform calculation in the way of management such as business math, economics, mathematics, finance, business statistics;
    Able to use computers and English related to management and other related knowledge. 

Course Curriculum, Period of Study and Number of Hours / CREDIT
The Associate’s Degree in Management consists of a two-year program with a total of 60 credits. The study period last only 3 years at most, counting from the registration date. The curriculum is divided into two main groups. The first group is general education  and oriented subjects, and the second group is specialized education (specialized subjects). The number of credits per group is as follows:

  • General Education  and Oriented Subjects have a total of 46.5 credits
  • Specialized Education (Specialized subjects) has a total of 13.5 credits

2 years = 4 semesters for Associate’s Degree

  • Associate degree year 1 = 2 semesters = 12 subjects = 30 credits
  • Associate degree year 2 = 2 semesters = 10 subjects = 30 credits
